Effects of Annealing Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of the Low Density Fe-Mn-Al-C Steel
In this paper, the characteristics of annealing treatment and microstructure of Fe-27.99Mn-12.36Al-1.07C low density steel were investigated.Microstructure characterization was performed by means of optical microscopy,X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicates that Fe-Mn-Al-C steels have low density and outstanding mechanical properties, such as the density is about 6.5g/cm3,tensile strength is 1100~1400MPa and total elongation is 15%~41%.The microstructures were dependent on the annealing temperature and time (900℃,1000℃,1050℃ for 0.5h,then water quench),which exerted great influence on strain hardening behavior.TEM observation revealed the presence of dislocation glide and deformation bands in deformed tensile samples.Specially, deformation bands were quiet obvious, and it contributed larger on mechanical properties during deformation.
