Experimental Study on the Formability of Medium Mn TRIP Steel 7MnCA

  As one of the most important third generation automotive steels,the medium MnTRIP steel has drawn more attentionsworldwide.The formability of 7MnCA,one of the medium Mn TRIP steels produced by Baosteel,is studied.Basic mechanical property is obtained byuniaxial tensile testand it shows that the strength-ductility balance of 7MnCA is higher than 35GPa·%.Long yield plateau and inhomogeneous deformation are both observed during the test.The formability characteristics at different strain states are studied by forming limit experiment using Nakajima method with DIC technology.The result that theforming limit strain FLD0 approaches to 23%,showsthe steel hasa betterformability thanDP steel at some strength level and thickness.Stamping trail result of extension panel of rear floorproves that mediumMn TRIP steel canbeapplied to manufacture automotive structural and safety components.
