Microstructures and Fracture Behaviors of Near Rapidly Solidified Fe-20Mn-Al-C Low-density Steels
Fe–Mn–Al–C alloys with high contents of Mn and Al have excellent mechanical properties and attracted much attentions as a promising structural material.Inthe present work,2 mm-thick stripslow-density steelsof Fe–20Mn–Al (9,12wt%)–C(0.6,0.8wt%)have been produced by arapid solidification process.Thesolidifiedmicrostructures and the tensile fracture were investigated. There are three types of solidification zones alongthe thickness directionof strips, the changesof aluminum and carbon contents lead to the microstructuralchange ofstrips and then the different fracture modes.Micro-cracksare prone to form along the secondary dendrite, therebygiving rise to brittle-fractureand deteriorating the ductility.
