Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Cold Rolled Medium Manganese Steel after Continuous Annealing
In this paper, effects of continuous annealing parameters on the microstructures and mechanical properties of cold-rolled 5Mn1Al steel were investigated. The results show that the microstructures of cold-rolled medium manganese steels consist of ferrite and reverted austenite after the continuous annealing. When the annealing temperature increases, the austenite grains evolve from lath-like to equiaxed morphology. The fraction of reverted austenite firstly increases and then decreases with the increasing temperature. The product of ultimate tensile strength and elongation can exceed 20GPa% after the proper continuous annealing. There are two types of strain-stress curves. One exhibits better elongation but limited work hardening, which is not beneficial for good formability. The other shows obvious work hardening and good plasticity, which seems to have good formability for auto applications if the austenite stability is further optimized.
