Light Weight Design of Dumpinging Truck with Advanced High Strength Steels
This paper presents an application case of lightweight design for dumping truck with advanced high strength steels,including wear resistance steel used for body floor,like NM450 grade,and high strength structural steel of 700MPa in yield strength used for sides.As we know,the purposes of lightweight design is to reduce the mass of the truck body as much as possible under the constrain condition that maintains the structure performance as high as possible,and as well as other benefits like higher payload,longer lifespan,lower maintenance and transportation costs.The whole research contents focus on four aspects,including optimization design based on a finite element model for several working conditions,development and application research of high strength steels with Nb microalloying process,and as well as manufacturing and operation analysis.For wear resistant coil-plate used for body floor,it is first time to develop by hot continuous rolling mill with excellent balance of hardness,toughness and flatness.With newly developed advanced high-strength steels,Junton,one of the largest truck makers in China,developed second and third generation U-type dumping truck body from original first generation of grid-type truck body successively.Up to now,2500 units dumping truck with optimized structural design and newly developed advanced high strength steels have been fabricated,and payback in investment was achieved in less than half-year.
