Developing Medium Carbon Superbainitic Steel
To accelerate the rate of bainitic transformation in low temperature,it is effective to add Al and Co in the alloy system.The austempering temperature of 250℃is selected.With the increasing austempering time,the bainitic ferrite plates are finer,the retained austenite fraction is less and the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) is higher.When the austempering time is 6 hours,the thickness of bainitic ferrite plate is ~ 100 nm and the amount of retained austenite is 14.1 %,as well as the UTS is more than 1700 MPa,the total elongation (TEL) is above 15.0 % and the product of strength and elongation (PSE) is above 25.0 Gpa·%.In addition,according to the XRD analysis,the microstructure consists of carbide-free bainite.
