Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of an Ultrahigh Strength Dual Phase Steel Developed by Intercritical Annealing
The influence of intercritical annealing temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of a 1000MPa dual phase steel was investigated. The volume fraction of martensite increases when increasing the intercritical annealing temperature; under the appropriate intercritical annealing conditions, the microstructure of the DP steel consisted of nearly equiaxed ferrite and uniformly distributed martensite islands. The variations of hardness, strength, elongation and fracture mechanism of the specimens with variation of the intercritical annealing temperature were correlated to microstructural features.
