Surface Selective Oxide Reduction on Intercritically Annealed Medium Mn Steel

3rdgeneration Mn-alloyed transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel has attracted a growing interest in recent years due to its excellent strength and ductility performance. The formation of an external layer of MnO during the continuous annealing of Mn-alloyed steels usually deteriorates the coating quality of galvanized medium Mn steel strip. The selective oxide reduction was carried out with annealing conditions with various temperatures in anHNx gas atmosphere. The use of high temperatures makes the gas atmosphere reducing with respect to MnO.The evolution of the reduction of the surface MnO oxide formed on the steels during the annealing was analyzed by means of SEM,GDOES and TEM.
