Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of DP980 Laser Welded Blank
In this paper, the result of laser welding of one coated AHSS,DP980,is presented.Optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the weld profile and microstructures.Limited Dome Height (LDH) Testing was performed to evaluate the formability of welded blanks under the biaxial stretching condition with lubrication. Results indicate that the weld exhibits both hardening which are attributed to the high beam quality and its rich chemistry and softening which is caused by the martensite tempering.Finite element (FE) analysis of the LDH testing of laser-welded blanks was carried out using the commercially available software package LS-DYNA.The numerical model including weld properties and geometry can predict the formability behavior accurately. Both experiment and simulation results show that the soft zone is the vulnerable region in LDH testing.
