Ausforming Followed by Below-Ms Austempering of Low-carbon Si-rich Bainitic Steel
The microstructure and tensile properties of a low-carbon high-Si steel prepared by a new thermo-mechanical process,i.e.ausforming followed by below-Ms austempering, have been studied. The results show that the new thermo-mechanical process reduces effectively the bainitic structure and, meanwhile, increases significantly the total amount of retained austenite,as compared with the non-ausforming process.Consequently, the samples prepared by the combined process show superior tensile properties,i.e.significantly-improved yield and tensile strengths with admirable ductility comparable to the non-ausformed sample.
