Effect of Dew Point Shift on Selective Oxidation of a Si Bearing Steel
Effect of dew point shift during annealing on selective oxidation of a Si bearing advanced high strength steel (AHSS) was investigated by means of a Hot-Dip Process Simulator (HDPS).The selective oxidation behavior of alloying elements on the surface was studied by glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GDOES),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS).It was found that the enrichment of Si and Mn on the external surface increased with decreasing dew point during heating. Moreover,no mixed oxides composed of Si and Mn could be found on the external surface.
