Excellent Mechanical Properties Balance of Fine 0.1C-2Si-5Mn Fresh Martensite and Ferrite+Austenite Steels
0.1%C-2%Si-5%Mn martensitic steel has an excellent strength ductility balance.Mn enhances hardenability,resulting in decreasing transformation start temperature with increasing in Mn content.When content is more than 5.0%,the transformation start temperature becomes constant regardless of cooling rate,and their microstructure is found to be martensite.Tensile strength,uniform elongation and total elongation of 0.1%C-2%Si-Mn martensitic steel are simultaneously improved with increasing in Mn content.Mn helps to enhance dislocation density with tensile strain even though dislocation density is very high,resulting in higher work hardening rate.Mechanism is analyzed with synchrotron radiation.
