Atomistic Understanding of Structure and Deformation of Nano-sized κ-Carbide Strengthener in Light-weight Steels
Fe-Mn-Al-C light-weight steels exhibit excellent combination of strength and formability rendering these materials attractive for automotive applications.In those of austenitic grades,the precipitation of nano-sized κ-carbides produces significant strengthening while preserving good ductility.Deformation mechanisms,such as shear-band-induced plasticity (SIP) and microband-induced plasticity (MBIP),have been proposed to be responsible for the excellent strain hardening.
