Electroplasticity in Advanced High Strength Steels
In recent years, improvement of fuel efficiency has become an important issue in automotive industry.Using of advanced high strength steels (AHSSs) is one way to satisfy this requirement. However, because there are general disadvantages of AHSSs such as their low formability and large spring back, the application of AHSSs to automotive industry has been in difficulty.Electrically-assisted forming is an emerging technique to overcome them,in which the mechanical property of a metal can be enhanced by simply applying electricity to the metal during deformation.Reduced flow stress and increased ductility is generally observed by simply applying electricity to the alloy during deformation, which is often called electroplasticity1.
