Methodology of Theoretical Modelling in Safety Systems
Models are typically used when it is either impossible or impractical to create experimental conditions in which scientists can directly measure outcomes.Similarly, in safety science research, a model seeks to represent safety empirical objects, safety phenomena, and safety physical processes in a logical and objective way, thus, the theoretical safety model have been widely used to interpret the mechanism of the accident and the principles of risk management and also the safety science principles.Building and disputing theoretical safety model is fundamental to the safety scientific enterprise, and theoretical modelling in safety systems is an essential and inseparable part of safety scientific activity, the aim of which is to make a particular part or feature of the safety system easier to understand, define, quantify, visualize, or simulate by referencing it to existing and usually commonly accepted knowledge. In safety science area, meta-theory (especially methodology)of theoretical modelling in safety systems remains incomplete, therefore, the methodology of theoretical modelling in safety system is of great significance, and is a valuable research direction.
