Simulation of Continuous Diffusion of Unexpected Dense Gas Leak for Emergency Response Application

With the rapid development of chemical industry, accidental leak of hazardous chemicals in urban areas or chemical industrial parks, potentially pose a substantial threat to public health and safety of people and eco-environment.Especially for the dense gas, due to its greater density than air, it will firstly sink and then spread along the ground where most people live in after a leak.Among the dense gas leak accidents, continuous leak is the most important and most dangerous due to its huge leak quantity and large affected area. This study is aimed to provide a rapid and effective simulation tool for predicting the possible affected area by this kind of accident in emergency rescue operations. Some simulation methods for the continuous diffusion of a dense gas leak are studied and an integrated solution of dense gas dispersion simulation is proposed in this paper. In this solution, as an important sensitive factor, meteorological condition is treated carefully and two main aspects are included, one is for steady meteorological condition and the other one is for unsteady meteorological condition.
