Effect of Temperature and Ventilation on the Emission of Toxic Gas in Polymer-fire Effluent

The toxic products are the main factors of lethality in fires.A lot of smoke and toxic gases can be released in the process of combustion and thermal decomposition of polymer materials. In this paper, three kinds of polymer materials have are used to study the effect of temperature and ventilation on toxic products released from these polymer materials.FED (the fractional effective dose) model is used to evaluate the toxicity of products. The results show that more toxic gases are released during the flaming combustion in confined space. The influence of the equivalence ratio on the combustion toxicity is greater than that of temperature.
