Numerical Simulation of Flame Characteristics of Aero Engine Fire Test

  To obtain a uniform standard fire test and general test conditions, a computational fluid dynamic of NexGen burner is established.The computational fluid dynamics are performed with ANSYS Fluent.The combustion model is Non-Premixed Combustion with 20-species probability density function method for the reaction of single kerosene species C12H23.The Reynolds-averaged Naiver-Stokes with SST k-ω turbulence model is used to resolve the turbulent behavior of flame.The discrete ordinates radiation model is used and the gas emissivity using the weighted sum of gray gasses model.Liquid fuel droplets interact with the turbulent gas medium in accordance with the discrete random walk model.This paper focuses on the flame characteristics distribution after the cone, which are temperature, heat flux and velocity.This paper gets results that with the distance firom cone increases the temperature of flame increases first and then decreases after reach up to the maximum at 101.6rnm after cone.And the velocity of flame increases with the distance from cone increases.The heat flux of flame attaches the maximum before the exit of cone, and with distance after the cone increases heat flux decrease.The temperature, velocity and heat flux of the flame are the best uniform at the 101.6mm plane.Contrasting the flame temperature, speed, heat flux at 101.6mm plane and 100 mm plane, this paper finds the temperature, speed and heat flux of the flame are more uniform at 101.6mm plane than at 100 mm plane.So it is easier to bum though when sample placed at 100 mm in fire test.
