Experimental and Numerical Study of Human Thermal Physiological Responses from Fire

Human thermal physiological responses from fire has become the focus of research, which can be used for heat stress assessment, test and design of PPC, and human safety assessment.Investigations on human thermal physiological responses were primarily based on subject tests, thermal model, manikin, and CFD simulation 1-2.In general, the previous studies mainly focus on normal environmental conditions where the ambient temperature was less than 40℃.In addition, large difference between the simulated results and experimental ones were observed. Therefore, there is a great need to improve the performance of thermal model, coupling system, and CFD simulations in hot environments. To more fully understand the human physiological responses from fire, thermal model, manikin coupling system and CFD coupling system were proposed, which were then validated against subject tests (Fig.1).
