Numerical Studies on a Window Plume Ejecting Out of a Room Fire to an Internal Building Void

Vertical shafts called internal building voids are provided in tall buildings with windows opened to adjacent rooms. The window plume ejecting out of window from a room fire adjacent to a vertical shaft will be studied by Computational Fluid Dynamics. The Fire Dynamics Simulator version 6.4.0 is taken as the simulation tool. Results are useful to study heat fluxes of the hot gases acting on the upper wall.Combustibles located in there can be ignited, and even windows will be broken.Further, the entrained air will affect the plume shape and upper areas with high gas temperatures.
