Suppressive Effect of Explosion in the Linked Vessels Impacted by Wire-mesh Located in Different Positions
A series of experiments was conducted to study suppression position effect of methane-air mixtures explosion in linked vessels impacted by 5-layer 40-mesh wire-mesh structure located in different positions. These results suggest that the explosion suppression position has a certain effect on linked vessels. The optimal suppression position of the linked vessels is related to the length of the connecting pipes. For the spherical vessels connected with one pipe or two pipes, the suppression position of wire mesh has little effect on the gas explosion. For the spherical vessels with three pipes, the suppression position of wire mesh has great effect. When the wire mesh is put in the latter half section of the pipeline, the suppression effect is the best. Thus, when the reaction or storage vessel is designed, the best suppression position should be decided through synthetical consideration.
