Passive and Active Ways of Explosion Suppression in Tubes and Galleries
Uncontrolled explosions of combustible mixtures can happen in many different kinds of industry, mining or in distribution of fuels by pipelines.Explosion can happen only if five conditions are fulfilled.Fuel and air (oxidizer) have to be presented simultaneously in the same enclosure.In addition, they have to be mixed in a proper ratio (the concentration of fuel should be inside flammability limit), mixture should be in confined space (volume, tube, gallery, etc.) and ignition source of sufficient energy have to be present.Generally, in practice we try to avoid such conditions, where all these factors are simultaneously present.But unfortunately, due to many different reasons, they happen from time to time and lead to uncontrolled explosions.
