Effects of Changing Ambient Temperature on Thermal Decomposition Reaction of Red Pyrotechnic Composition
Experiment assessment method has some drawbacks in practice such as high risk and long process, while simulation assessment method with simple equipment, less danger etc.are widely used to evaluate thermal safety of energetic material. In this study, a cylinder grain model with 80mm diameter 160mm high made of red pyrotechnic composition was built. Its SADT, ignition temperature, time to ignition and ignition position in different conditions are calculated. When the ambient temperature is constant, ignition time decreases with increase of ambient temperature. The position of ignition point moves upward along the symmetry axis of the grain from 631Kto 680K.It moved up to two comers while the ambient temperature is between 690K and 700K.The ignition starts on the surface when ambient temperature exceeds 700K.Those parameters when the ambient temperature increases with time are also calculated. The faster the heating rate is the shorter the ignition time is.When the ambient temperature increased with 6K min-1to 640K, the curve of temperature vs time is the same as that in constant ambient temperature 640K.
