Experimental Investigation on Gaseous Detonation Propagation through Spiral Tubes
The experiments on gas detonation of ethylene-air mixture propagation through different size spiral tubes and straight tubes were conducted. The pressure distributions in the tubes were obtained by four pressure sensors in the tests. The experimental results showed that the gas detonation pressure in the spiral tubes decreased along the tube due to the comer effect and the wall effect, while the gas detonation pressure in straight tubes increased along the tube. The smaller the diameter, the lower pressure and the faster decrease speed of the detonation pressure.According to AQ3001-2005, the average detonation overpressure in each spiral tube was less than 140.0 kPa, which conformed to the requirements of the relevant explosion suppression technology.
