Calculation of Sedimentation Potential in Oil Tanks after Filling Operation
Standing time after filling oil tanks, which is very important for dipping, gauging, sampling and some other operations, strongly depends on variation principle of sedimentation potential caused by impurity particles in the oil.Its very necessary to study the standing time and sedimentation potential.In this paper, calculation model of sedimentation potential is established based on mechanical analysis of sedimentation particles.A criterion, which can be used to evaluate whether the influence of sedimentation elecWification should be considered by tank height or volume, is proposed.The determination of threshold standing time after filling operation is developed.Furthermore, the main effects on sedimentation field and surface potential are investigated in detail in the perspective of various physical variables.The conclusions of different factors on sedimentation potential can provide significant engineering guidance to reduce sedimentation electrification risk.
