Impact of TiO2 Additions on the Properties of Al2O3-SiC-C Castables for Iron Trough

  In this study, fused dense alumina, white alumina and silicon carbide were selected as the main materials, and sodium polyacrylate was chosen as water reducing agent, effects of theTiO2 addition content on the properties of Al2O3-SiC-C iron trough were investigated The increasing content of TiO2 leads to a decrease in the flow ability and strength of the prepared castables.Specimens with various amounts of TiO2 additional exhibit a volume expansion after heated at 1450 ℃ for 3hrs.With the increase of TiO2, the thermal shock resistance of the specimens increases to a maximum with the addition of 2 wt%TiO2, and decreases afterward A gradually increase in the oxidation resistance and slag resistance has been observed with increasing amounts of TiO2 addition.The specimens show the best comprehensive performances with the addition of 2 wt% TiO2.
