Development and Application of Alumina Spinel Products for Refining Ladles

  Based on the requirement of clean smelting technology for refining ladle, and improving its service life and reducing the consumption of Refractory lining, we have researched and developed series of Alumina Spinel refractory products.In this thesis, we introduce the researching on properties of products with main raw material using BFA, WFA,Tabular Alumina, MgO-spinel composited with activity of MgO as MgO source, and using inorganic as binder.Research shows that content of MgO in range of 3-10% has good corrosion resistance.MgO is easy to evaporate under vacuum condition, quantity of introduction of MgO is approx 5% is good for properties of corrosion resistance, PLC, Spalling and impact resistance.Introduction of activity of MgO shall improve property of PLC, but if too much introduction of activity of MgO shall cause too much expansion resulting in crack of products during firing,the quantity of introduction of activity of MgO is 1-2 % is good for products.Reducing silicon content and other impurities of products can improve erosion resistance of products, meanwhile, property of erosion resistance of the products is related to the purity and grain size of corundum material;the introduction of fine powder can restrain the volume effect of high temperature and reduce the stress of the structure;the introduction of composite material and Al2O3 powder,active MgO, in situ spinel have a favorable influence on the thermal shock resistance of the products.Research result shows the products have good properties of without recarburation to molten steel,erosion resistant, anti erosion and high temperature stability of volume and good characteristics, the successful application of in Europe, Oceania, and different users, to the application level of similar foreign products, a good effect has been achieved.
