The Effects of Two Bonding Agents on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of ZrN-SiAlON-SiC Refractories
In the present study, ZrN-SiAlON-SiC composite refractories were prepared by using zircon,middle-low grade bauxite, and SiC powder as raw materials and phenol resin as well as sucrose as bonding agent. The effects of these two types of bonding agents on the apparent porosity, bulk density, bending strength of the prepared samples were investigated The results showed that the apparent porosity, bulk density, bending strength of the prepared ZrN-SiAlON-SiC refractories got lager, smaller, weaker, respectively, after the heat treatment of 1500 ℃ on account of the destruction of structure of phenol resin and sucrose. In contrast to sucrose, phenol resin was the optimum bonding agent because oft he little change of the mechanical properties after heat treatment.
