Effects of Special Additives on Properties of Castables Used in Blast Furnace Trough

  The refractory materials used in blast furnace troughs generally are Al2O3-SiC-C castables.The safety and long service life of Al2O3-SiC-C castables are key factors for blast furnace producing.In this work, the effect of three special additives (FS-20,SP73 and SD-SEED) on properties of Al2O3-SiC-C castables used in blast furnace has been investigated.The results show that FS-20 and SP73 possess excellent water reducing effect and disperability, and the optimum amount of FS-20 and SP73 is 0.1% and 0.12%, respectively, and the disperability of FS-20 is better than that of SP73.When cement and SD-SEED are incorporated into Al2O3-SiC-C castables together,both cold strength and high temperature strength are increased, which will contribute to improving in wear resistance of castables and ultimately increase in service life of the castables.SD-SEED takes strengthening effect for cement.
