Effect of Alumina Intercalated Graphite (AIG) on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al2O3-C Refractories
Alumina intercalated graphite (AIG) was prepared by soaking expanded graphite (EG) in AICl3 solution with vacuum impregnation, and then filtering, drying and treating in coke bed at different temperatures.Following that AIGs were introduced to partly or totally replace EG into Al2O3-C refractories in present work. The results showed that AIG had superior antioxidant activity to EG.The AIG addition has the influence on the mechanical properties of Al2O3-C refractories to some extent.Besides, the thermal shock resistance of Al2O3-C refractories was improved with AIG addition.
