Performance of Non-coherent Demodulation for Space Downlink Optical Communication

The space optical communication system, which is hopeful to be the key technique of the next generation of space communication system, owns better security and faster transmission rate.At present,on-off keying (OOK) modulation scheme is widely used in practical optical communication systems. However, few people pay attention to the investigation of the performance of communication system based on the non-coherent demodulation. This paper focuses on the downlink of OOK communication systems under non-coherent demodulation.Considered the atmospheric turbulence effect,we carefully study the performance of the system from the view of the ratio of beam radius and zenith angle, the ratio of receiver diameter and zenith angle, the ratio of divergence angle and zenith angle, and the ratio of transmission power and zenith angle. The work is benefit for the design of space practical optical systems.
