A study of interaction between vortex shedding and a lateral jet
We investigated the interaction of vortices shed from a circular cylinder in a laminar channel flow and a lateral jet emitted from one of the two walls on the downstream side of the cylinder.The study was conducted computationally.We found several possible scenarios such as steady flow, periodic flow, period doubling, and chaotic flow phenomenon.The possible control parameters could be the jet flow rate Qjet, the width of the jet L, and the emitting velocity of the jet V =Qjet/L.In this paper, we specified a particular nondimensional jet flow rate Q =Qjet/Qchannet flow =0.2 and varied V so that L was varied accordingly.We attempt to construct a map to elucidate the physics of these possible scenarios.
