Experimental study on cavitation over a flat hydrofoil with obstacle

  The cavitation over a flat hydrofoil with obstacle is investigated experimentally.Two high-speed cameras are used to record the images from side view and top view.For a better way to evaluate the effects of inhibition, an algorithm is developed to calculate the volume of the cavity using the images from side view and top view.The results show that when an obstacle is arranged at the X/C=0.37, both the volume of the cavity and the amplitude of the volume change reduce.The volume is about one third of the one of the case without obstacle.Its volume changes with a smaller amplitude, which means the obstacle has a positive influence on the reduction of the cloud cavitation.
