Experimental investigation of the ventilated cavitating vortex shedding using PIV-POD method
The objective of this paper is to investigate ventilated cavitating vortex shedding by a high-speed particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is applied to identify the spatial and temporal coherent structures. The self-oscillatory periodic behaviors of the ventilated cavitation vortex shedding are obtained and the strength of vortex shedding reduced with increasing of Qv.The POD analysis demonstrates that the first and second modes give the dominant mode shapes and frequencies which are associated with the vortex shedding. The ventilated cavitation plays an important role in the first mode pairs to affect the vortex shedding.
