Similarity analysis and experimental verification of siphon formation time of siphon pipes of prototype and model tests
The siphon pipe is a kind of water cut-off device based on the siphon principles of fluid mechanics, and it is mainly used in the pumping station buildings.The similarity analysis of fluid mechanics shows that as for the physical model for the gravitational similarity conditions, the siphon formation time predicted by the model is shorter than that of the prototype during the hydraulic air-driving stage;the durations of the model are similar to those of the prototype during the hydraulic air-carrying stage and the siphon steady stage.The results of prototype field tests and physical model tests on pumping stations show that their siphon formation time has similar rules, and it is correct through experimental verification.
