Study of moving contact line across hydro-philic and-phobic stripes
The transient flow of the moving contact line across the intersection region of a pair of hydro-philic and-phobic stripes is studied. The procedure of replacing of gas by liquid in a capillary tube is simulated based on lattice Boltzmann method coupled with phase field model.During the transition, the evolution of the contact line velocity, dynamic contact angle and apparent contact angle are analyzed. It is found that the contact line undergoes an apparent.acceleration first and then a deceleration during the transition. The exceeded surface energy is transformed to kinetic energy, meanwhile part of which is dissipated by viscous force until the steady state is obtained.During the deceleration process, the viscous force is linearly proportional to the unbalanced Youngs force, and the visco-capillary regime is implied.
