Numerical study on generation and reflection of solitary waves by/against a vertical wall

  Generation of an accurate solitary wave in both physical and numerical wave flume is a fundamental and critical work in marine engineering.A fully nonlinear numerical wave channel based on HOBEM in the framework of potential theory is developed in this paper.Solitary wave is generated by a piston-type wave-maker with three different generating laws, including Goring law, Clamond law and Katell law.Investigations of wave profile and dispersion of the wave during propagation are conducted.The propagation and reflection of solitary waves by/against a vertical plate are analyzed and confirmed in well permanent shape.
