Assessment of an improved filter-based model in simulating tip vortex cavitation in axial flow pump

  Tip leakage vortex cavitation, which has been investigated for well hundred years, is well known for the undesirable consequences.An accurate prediction of this phenomenon is necessary to propose effective methods.In this study,an improved filter-based model coupled with a homogeneous mass transfer model were used to simulate the unsteady cavitating flows in the tip region of an axial-flow pump.The primary goal is to validate the improved turbulence model and reproduce the tip vortex cavitation evolution compared with the visualized experiments.
