Application of bezier curve in waterjet propulsion inlet duct

The inlet duct is an important part of waterjet unit.Generally the circular arcs are adopted as backs and lips of most inlet ducts for smooth transition.Its obvious that the circular arc is simple, however this kind of smooth transition curve is rigid, once the radius of the circular arc is fixed, then the shape of the transition section will be stable.The Bezier curve is a good alternative because of its variable shapes and being qualified for smooth transition.In this paper some research are done about the change rule of inlet duct efficiency, non-uniformity, the position of stagnation point along with the shape of Bezier curve, which laid solid foundation for the application of Bezier curve in inlet duct design and enriches the types of inlet duct lines.
