Development of an optimal approach for hydrofoils and blades of marine current turbines

In the present paper, an optimal approach for both hydrofoils and blades is developed based on Genetic Algorithm(GA).In this approach, GA controlled Xfoil is applied for analysis for hydrofoils while Blade Element Momentum Theory is applied for analysis for three-dimensional blades, while geometry of both blade and hydrofoils are optimized holistieally.An optimum design for blade with variable is obtained, and performance of optimized blade in shear flow is evaluated as well.
