Numerical calculation of the hydrodynamic forces on a SWATH in pure yaw motion
By solving the unsteady RANS equations with a k-e turbulence model, numerical simulation of viscous flow around a SWATH undergoing pure yaw motion is conducted.In the numerical simulation, hexahedral grids are adopted and the influence of free surface elevation is ignored.The hydrodynamic force and moment acting on the SWATH are calculated.Based on the numerical results of hydrodynamic force and moment, linear hydrodynamic derivatives of ship maneuvering are determined.The influence of yaw rate amplitude on the hydrodynamic derivatives is investigated.
