Experimental investigations of the type-a wave packets evolution and energy transmission over a gentle slope
Laboratory experiments are conducted to investigate the evolving characteristics of the type-a ISW packet on a gentle slope, which is generated by means of the gravity collapse of density stratification fluid. It is shown that the evolution of the type-a ISW packet on the gentle slope is closely related with the lead wave amplitude. The amplitude of the lead and tail wave decreases and increases in the packers propagation respectively and this variation of each ISWs amplitude in the packet may change its type. Also the slope effect will result in the increasing interval between two internal solitons in the packet and its increment rate will raise with the extending propagation distance. Both energy transmission and loss in the packet depends on its leading wave amplitude and its propagation distance.
