Numerical Modelling of Landslide Induced Transient Waves
Landslide induced transient waves is a complicated natural phenomenon in ocean, lakes and reservoirs.Dispersion and nonlinear properties of the landslide induced waves have been reported in previous literatures.A numerical model based on Boussinesq equations and finite difference method is developed in this paper. The classical Boussinesq equations are extended to include the terms representing motion of landslide.Fourth order Adams predictor corrector finite scheme is employed to solve the governing equations numerically. To validate the numerical model, several cases are carried out.The numerical results are compared with analytical results, experimental results in literatures. The accuracy and validity of the numerical model developed is then analyzed. The results show that the developed model can successfully reproduce the generation and evolution of the water waves.
