Characteristics of Older Academics Information Seeking Behavior
Learning from some research findings relevant to information seeking behavior, based on grounded theory, this paper collects qualitative data with in-depth interviews, semi-structured observation and critical incident method from twenty-six older academics at home and abroad, and analyzes the data with substantive coding and theoretical coding, aiming to explore the process and characteristics of older academics information seeking behavior.The study finds that such users go through four stages as seeking academic information, namely initiating, preparing, executing and help-seeking, a theoretical model of older academics information see king process is constructed and nine characteristics of their behaviors emerged from the four stages are revealed.It is helpful for broadening the view and content of researches concerning older adults information seeking behavior and providing a reasonable theoretical support for carrying out information services for this group.
