Mechanisms of Knowledge Graph in Search Engines
Knowledge Graph is widely used in major commerce search engines such as Google, Bing, Baidu, and Sogou from 2012 to improve the capability of semantic search of search engines and provide exact answers or structured knowledge to users.This paper aims to demonstrate mechanisms of Knowledge Graph in search engines.The method of reverse engineering was employed to examine the mechanism of Google and Sogou.The mechanism of Knowledge Graph is summarized as six sections including knowledge acquisition, knowledge fusion, knowledge storage, semantic understanding of queries, knowledge retrieval, and knowledge visualization.Technical details of such six sections in the mechanism are discussed.Knowledge Graph help search engines understand natural language queries of users and display knowledge in a structured way through knowledge panel or information box.This study contribute to the understanding of the mechanism and implementation process of the emerging Knowledge Graph in search engines.
