The Impacts of Beliefs About Information, Personality Traits, and Tie Strength on Users Information Sharing Behavior on WeChat

  There has been a growing interest in examining the factors that support or hinder ones information sharing behavior in social media.However, still few studies examined them from both personal and environmental perspectives.The privacy and lacking of self-cleaning mechanism of WeChat lead to differ from other social media tools.The purpose of this study was to develop an understanding of the factors affecting the young adults information sharing behavior on WeChat.The research model includes various constructs based on social network theory and Technology Acceptance Model.To test the model, 696 users located in five provinces in Southwest China were surveyed.The results show that information social impact, users perception of information, users openness and extraversion have positive impact on information sharing behavior on WeChat.This paper offers a new perspective on the mechanisms related to the tie strength construct, which in turn facilitates Wechat information sharing behaviors especially among young adults in China.
