The Walking Behaviours of Pedestrian Social Group in the Corridor of Subway Station

A great many researches on pedestrian dynamics have been proceeded by numerous scholars, which mostly focus on the characteristics of isolated individuals by means of pedestrian controlled experiments or computer simulation, the impact of interpersonal relationship is not completely considered.Actually, assembling pedestrian generated by social relationship significantly impact on the walking features, such as walking velocity, flow rate, and evacuation time due to the process of keeping cohesive.Based on the field observation in the corridor of mass rapid transit under natural conditions in Beijing, the differences of passenger flow compounds were compared between non-working day and working day.Further more, the motion of pedestrian groups in detail including walking velocity, acceleration, trajectory changes and proxemics of group were quantitatively analysed. Results show that social group has a much high proportion on non-working day than working day.Meanwhile, the walking velocity and trajectories changes are affected by local density.A series of group spatial patterns were obtained. The results can be benefit to improve the understanding of group dynamics among pedestrian flow and develop more vivid pedestrian simulation models considering group.
