Qualitative analysis on two-dimensional pedestrian flows-unidirectional and bidirectional

  With the high precise pedestrian trajectories obtained from video recordings of two-dimensional experiments, detailed analysis on pedestrian characteristics are presented.Besides the discussion on basic elements as velocity and density, we also gain insights into the spatial-headway in two-dimensional situation.Group feature is also discussed with a compare in unidirectional and bidirectional flow.The trajectories of the pedestrians show us a very intense trend to formation of lanes during the whole process.With no fundamental diagrams, the velocity and density were calculated with two different methods that are more appropriate for this case.In crowded situation people are likely to keep a steady distance to the ones before them, which is heuristic to modelling.
