Simulating indoor evacuation using a CA model based on individuals space-time accessibility
Pedestrians may predict the traffic conditions in evacuation process and then adjust their movement accordingly to avoid potential congestion in advance. This ability of prediction could also affect the route choice behaviour of pedestrians, especially when the evacuation happens in some complex indoor environment. In this research, we consider that the complex indoor environment is similar to urban geography environment, because both of them have spatial structure and characteristics. Therefore, the concept of individuals space-time accessibility which used in urban geography environment for measuring the occupants ease of going from one place to another is adopted in this paper. The paper aims to propose a pedestrian evacuation model by considering the prediction effects.Firstly, a dynamic route choice model based on individuals space-time accessibility is proposed. It contains three components, namely, the expected moving distance of an occupant during a certain time period, the distance from an occupants current location to the exit, and the hierarchy of an occupants current location in a hierarchical directed evacuation network, respectively.Secondly, the pedestrians movement is simulated through a modified CA model by adding the individuals space-time accessibility into the dynamic floor field model. Finally, an experiment is carried out in a classroom with an area of 7 m * 18.2 m in a university in China.Comparison between the experimental and simulation results shows that the proposed model can reproduce thc cxperiment well. The models simulation result is 0.55 s faster than that in real case, and the model can predict individuals selection at the beginning and the key nodes.
