Experiment and simulation on partial alighting process
Partial alighting process, in which a portion of pedestrians alights, cleaving the abiding pedestrians, is frequently observed in public transportation facilities, i.e., trains, buses, and elevators. To facilitate prediction and understanding of the alighting time in these facilities, we investigate the partial alighting process in a square room by means of experiments and simulations. From the experimental results, we found a simple relationship between the passing motion of pedestrians and the partial alighting time. Moreover, we propose a simulation model, which was confirmed to reproduce pedestrian behaviour consistent with experimental results.
